Community participation

About this support

Life happens out in the world: at the footy, in the library, at the local pool, over coffee with a friend. Community participation support is about making sure disability is never the reason you miss out on the parts of life you enjoy, or the parts you have always wanted to try.

We match you with support workers who genuinely share your pace and, wherever possible, your interests. Their job is not to do things for you or hover beside you. It is to open doors, build your confidence, and gradually become less necessary as your own connections grow.

What this support can include

Every arrangement is personalised to you. These are some of the ways this support commonly helps.

  • Support to attend social events, clubs, classes and community groups
  • Getting out and about locally: cafes, parks, libraries, pools and gyms
  • Support to attend appointments and personal errands with confidence
  • Taking part in cultural, faith and community celebrations that matter to you
  • Exploring new interests, hobbies and volunteering opportunities
  • Building confidence with public transport and familiar local routes
  • Staying connected with family and friends, near and far

This support might suit you if…

  • You would like to get out more, and having someone alongside would make it possible
  • You have interests you have shelved and you are ready to pick them back up
  • Your world has become smaller than you want it to be, and you are ready to change that
  • You want support that builds your confidence, not dependence

Not sure whether this fits your plan or your funding? Our plain-English NDIS guide explains how supports work, or you can simply ask us.

The nurse-led difference

Getting out should never mean compromising on safety. Where a participant has health considerations (mealtime plans, seizure management, medication timing), our nursing team makes sure community support is planned around them, so you can relax and enjoy the day.
